In 2018, Abby Finkenauer soundly defeated Freedom Caucus Representative Rod Blum, becoming, along with fellow Representative Cindy Axne, one of the first women to represent Iowa in the House of Representatives. Congresswoman Finkenauer previously served in the Iowa State House from 2014 to 2018, where she became known as a staunch defender of working families and as a vocal advocate for women. In the House, she sits on the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and the House Small Business Committee.
In 2015, Rep. Finkenauer visited Israel and gained a first-hand appreciation for Israel’s security needs and the special relationship between the United States and Israel. She understands that a two-state solution is the only way to ensure Israel’s secure future as a Jewish and democratic state, and as a member of Congress she is committed to supporting US leadership in peace negotiations. She is a cosponsor of House Resolution 326, which reaffirms Congress’s commitment to two-state solution and opposes settlement expansion and annexation.
