Democrat Catherine Cortez Masto was elected in 2016 to the Senate seat left vacant by Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid. Cortez Masto was a criminal prosecutor for the US Attorney’s Office in Washington DC before serving as the Chief of Staff to Nevada Governor Bob Miller. Most recently, while serving as Nevada Attorney General, Catherine Cortez Masto earned a reputation as a strong advocate for the middle class, immigrants, seniors and Nevada’s families. Cortez Masto is a supporter of the Iran nuclear deal and believes that American leadership is critical towards bridging Israeli and Palestinian support for a two-state solution. Cortez Masto believes the US can make headway in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict because of its deep connections to both sides of the issue.
