Senator Catherine Cortez Masto was elected in 2016 to the Nevada seat left vacant by the retirement of Minority Leader Harry Reid. Cortez Masto was a criminal prosecutor for the US Attorney’s Office in Washington, DC, before serving as the Chief of Staff to Nevada Governor Bob Miller. Most recently, while serving as Nevada Attorney General, she earned a reputation as a strong advocate for the middle class, immigrants, seniors and Nevada’s families.
Sen. Cortez Masto is a supporter of the Iran nuclear deal and believes that American leadership is critical towards bridging Israeli and Palestinian support for a two-state solution. She believes the US can make headway in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict because of its deep connections to both sides of the issue.
