Dan Feehan is running in the Democratic-Farmer-Labor party primary to succeed retiring JStreetPAC endorsee Rep. Tim Walz in Minnesota’s 1st Congressional district. Feehan is an Army veteran who served two tours of duty in Iraq. After his military service, he taught 6th grade math in Gary, Indiana for two years. He then went on to serve in the Obama administration as an acting Assistant Secretary of Defense, and he currently is an adjunct senior fellow at the Center for a New American Security.
As a two-time combat veteran and former Department of Defense official, Dan has learned that peace is not the absence of conflict alone, but also the collective and continued struggle of a society to embrace the gifts of freedom and justice for all. It is for this reason that he is committed to achieving a diplomatic solution to the Israel-Palestinian conflict resulting in a sustainable two-state solution. In his view, the United States has a critical role to play in leading this process and bringing the two parties together.
When it comes to preventing Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon, Dan supports the full, unobstructed implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action. As a defense policy expert, he has said that it is “apparent that this agreement has blocked Iran’s pathways to a nuclear weapon and has done so without violence or loss of life.”
