Dan McCready is the Democratic nominee for North Carolina’s 9th Congressional District. McCready served in the Marine Corps and then attended Harvard Business School, before starting a company dedicated to creating solar farms in North Carolina. Dan is committed to working for clean energy, and he has played a significant role in building North Carolina’s solar energy capacity. He won the Democratic primary with 83% of the vote and will face Republican Mark Harris in the general election. McCready is a part of the DCCC’s Red to Blue program.
As a veteran of the Marine Corps, McCready has a strong desire to put aside politics and work toward peace in the Middle East. He believes in the importance of the relationship between the United States and Israel and that the US must be dedicated to maintaining Israel’s qualitative military edge. McCready understands that achieving a two-state solution between Israel and the Palestinians is crucial in ensuring that Israel can remain a secure, Jewish and democratic state, while also addressing humanitarian concerns. For this reason, he supports giving aid to the Palestinian people in order to ensure that they can build the foundation for a secure future state. McCready believes that the United States should encourage moderate Palestinian leadership and play a strong role in encouraging bilateral negotiations between the two parties. Additionally, McCready believes that now that the US has withdrawn from the Iran nuclear agreement, we should find a new diplomatic path to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon.
