Senator Dianne Feinstein is California’s senior senator and was first elected to the body in 1992. She previously served as the President of San Francisco’s Board of Supervisors and Mayor of San Francisco. As the first female Chair of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, Feinstein earned a reputation as an authority on international affairs. She is the ranking member of the Judiciary Committee. Recently, she has been a leading voice on the need to prioritize diplomacy to resolve the threat of a nuclear-armed Iran.
Feinstein is a committed supporter of a two-state solution and a strong friend of the pro-Israel, pro-peace movement. Throughout her time in the Senate, Senator Feinstein has been a public champion and close ally of J Street’s issues. In 2017, she introduced a letter with fellow Senator Bernie Sanders calling on Netanyahu not to demolish the Palestinian village of Susya.
