Congressman Earl Blumenauer was first elected to represent Oregon’s Third Congressional District in 1996. Rep. Blumenauer was born, raised, and educated in Portland, and has been involved in public service since his 1972 election to the state legislature at the age of 23. Rep. Blumenauer serves as a senior member on the House Ways and Means Committee. For decades, he has been a leading environmental advocate in Congress, as well as one of Congress’ most progressive members in general.
Rep. Blumenauer was one of JStreetPAC’s earliest endorsees, and we are proud to have supported his last six campaigns for reelection. He is a public champion for Israeli-Palestinian peace, and signed on to all four Congressional letters of concern this past cycle. He has stated that the success of a future agreement in the region will require “active, rigorous, sustained, and thoughtful American leadership.” He was one of the earliest cosponsors of House Resolution 326, which reaffirms Congress’s commitment to two-state solution and opposes settlement expansion and annexation.
