Representative Gerry Connolly is a six-term Congressman representing Virginia’s 11th district, which he won in 2018 with over seventy percent of the vote. A graduate of Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government, Connolly worked for the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations from 1979 to 1989 before going into local politics, sitting on – and later chairing – the Fairfax County Board for nearly fourteen years.
During his time in office he has been a strong supporter of a two-state solution and a strong critic of Trump’s stance on Israel. In the last cycle, Rep. Connolly refused to support two unconstitutional bills seeking to criminalize BDS, and signed on to three letters of concern on Iran and Israel-Palestine. Throughout his time in Congress, Rep. Connolly has been a public champion and leader of J Street’s issues. In 2019, he introduced House Resolution 326, which reaffirms Congress’s commitment to two-state solution and opposes settlement expansion and annexation.
