Congressman Gil Cisneros was elected to represent California’s 39th Congressional District, winning his seat by less than one point in the 2018 elections. The Congressman is a Navy veteran who reached the level of Lt. Commander and was awarded the Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, the National Defense Medal, and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal for his exemplary service to his country. He is also an education policy expert who—after winning the lottery—created a foundation committed to strengthening public schools and improving access to college for students and veterans. Rep. Cisneros sits on the House Armed Services Committee.
Rep. Cisneros is dedicated to achieving a lasting solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict through a negotiated two-state solution. Rep. Cisneros believes the United States must act as a leader in the Middle East peace process and play a strong role to facilitate negotiations. Since joining Congress, he has been a supporter of J Street’s priorities: supporting the resolution against bigotry and co sponsoring of H.Res 326, reaffirming Congress’ support for the two-state solution.
