Jaime Harrison is running against Lindsey Graham in the South Carolina Senate race. Harrison was raised by a 16-year old single mother and grew up low-income, but graduated from Yale and Georgetown Law. He began his political career working for Jim Clyburn, the third-highest ranking Democrat in the House and the highest ranking African-American in Congress. Harrison served as Chair of the South Carolina Democratic Party from 2013 to 2017, and is currently associate chairman and counsel of the Democratic National Committee, after running for chair in 2017. Harrison’s impressive fundraising has made this race increasingly competitive. Harrison won South Carolina’s Democratic primary and will serve as the Democrat’s nominee in November.
Harrison understands Israel policy transcends political parties and presidents, and is committed to maintaining a strong bipartisan and nonpartisan US-Israel relationship. Harrison will oppose any settlement expansion on the West Bank that further entrenches the occupation and contributes to a creeping annexation of territory. Harrison also strongly believes the PA plays an important role in fostering peace and security in the region. As a result, he calls for substantive American aid to the PA, as well. Harrison supported the JCPOA and praised its successes and is fully committed to re-entering a multilateral agreement to keep Iran from developing a nuclear weapon.
