For over twenty years, Congressman Jim Clyburn has represented South Carolina’s 6th District in the House of Representatives. Clyburn was born and raised in Sumter, South Carolina and was an influential leader of the Civil Rights Movement during the 1960s. Since his election to Congress in 1993, Rep. Clyburn served as the Chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus in 1999, House Majority Whip from 2007 to 2011, Assistant Democratic Leader from 2011 to 2019, and currently serves as Majority Whip – making him the highest-ranking African-American in Congress and one of the Democratic Caucus’s primary liaisons to the White House.
In this capacity, Clyburn has been an outspoken supporter of Israel and US leadership to bring about a lasting peace between Israel and the Palestinians. A JStreetPAC endorsee since 2014, Rep. Clyburn has been an ally of the pro-Israel, pro-peace movement.
