Sen. Jeff Merkley began his career in public service as a national security analyst at the Pentagon and Congressional Budget Office. He went on to lead Habitat for Humanity’s Oregon office. Merkley won election to Oregon’s House of Representatives in 1998 and in 2007 he became speaker of the Oregon House. Since his election to the Senate in 2008, Merkley has earned a reputation as a strong progressive leader on issues ranging from filibuster reform to nuclear proliferation. He has been strong ally of J Street and an outspoken proponent of a two-state solution since taking office. JStreetPAC proudly supported Merkley in his successful 2008 and 2014 campaigns for Senate.
