John Conyers

Rep. John Conyers has represented Michigan’s 13th Congressional District since 1964, now serving as Dean, or the longest serving member, of the House of Representatives. The Congressman got his start in politics as an activist during the Civil Rights Movement and attended Wayne State University School of Law after serving in the Army Corps of Engineers. A founding member of the Congressional Black Caucus, Rep. Conyers was the first African-American to serve as Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee from 2007-2011, and continues to serve as its Ranking Member. The Congressman has been a reliable friend of the pro-Israel, pro-peace movement throughout his career in Congress.
