John Garamendi

Rep. John Garamendi was first elected to represent California’s 10th Congressional District in a 2009 special election and in 2012 won election to represent California’s newly created 3rd Congressional District. Prior to his election to Congress, Rep. Garamendi served in the California State Assembly for almost two decades, was the California state insurance commissioner from 1991 to 1995, the U.S. deputy secretary of the interior from 1995 to 1998, and the California state insurance commissioner again from 2003 to 2007. He then served as the lieutenant governor of California from January 2007 until he was elected to Congress in November 2009. Serving on the House Armed Services Committee, Rep. Garamendi is an outspoken proponent of US leadership in the international community and a strong supporter of Israel and a two-state solution.
