Rep. John Lewis has represented Georgia’s 5th Congressional District since 1987. Recognized as one of the “Big Six” leaders of the American Civil Rights Movement, Rep. Lewis chaired the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) and was a close associate of Martin Luther King, Jr. In the House, Rep. Lewis is Senior Chief Deputy Whip for the Democratic Party and sits on the powerful Ways and Means Committee. Rep. Lewis is a longstanding supporter of Israel and vocal advocate of US leadership to broker a two-state solution. He is a cosponsor of House Resolution 326, which reaffirms Congress’s commitment to two-state solution and opposes settlement expansion and annexation.
