Since 1990, Congressman Jose Serrano has represented New York’s 15th Congressional District in the United States Congress. Serrano spent sixteen years in the New York State Assembly before being elected to represent New York’s 18th Congressional District in 1990.
Congressman Serrano serves on the Appropriations Committee where he is the ranking member of the Subcommittee on Financial Services and General Government. While in Congress he has been a strong progressive voice in favor of programs and policies that help immigrants and working families.
Throughout his tenure in Congress, Serrano has been a consistent voice in support of the two-state solution. He voted in favor of the Iran nuclear deal, noting he was inspired by the tremendous feat of multilateralism in reaching a deal that defanged Iran’s nuclear threat.
