Congresswoman Julia Brownley has represented California’s 26th Congressional District since 2013, having won three successive re-election campaigns. Before running for Congress, Brownley served on the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District Board of Education and in the California State Assembly. In Congress, Rep. Brownley serves on the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and the Veterans’ Affairs Committee, and is the chairwoman of the Subcommittee on Health.
During her time in Congress, Rep. Brownley has been an advocate for issues important to pro-Israel, pro-peace Americans. The Congresswoman supported the Iran nuclear deal and was a cosignatory on Rep. Schakowsky’s letter pushing for a diplomatic solution to confronting Iran’s nuclear ambitions. She also supported three additional letters of concern on Israel-Palestine, and refused to sign two unconstitutional bills that would criminalize support for the BDS movement. JStreetPAC fully supports Congresswoman Brownley’s 2020 campaign and the strong, progressive voice on Israel she will bring to the 117th Congress. She is a cosponsor of House Resolution 326, which reaffirms Congress’s commitment to two-state solution and opposes settlement expansion and annexation.
