Representative Karen Bass was re-elected to a fifth term representing California’s 37th Congressional District in November 2018. She made history prior to her Congressional career as California’s first African American woman to serve as State Assembly Speaker. The Congresswoman serves on the House Foreign Affairs Committee and on the House Judiciary Committee, and is currently Chair of the Congressional Black Caucus.
In 2015, Rep. Bass traveled to Israel on a Congressional Delegation Mission and has been an outspoken advocate of the two-state solution. She has long been a champion of J Street’s issues, and in 2019 she introduced House Resolution 326 with Reps. Lowenthal and Connolly, which reaffirms Congress’ commitment to two-state solution and opposes settlement expansion and annexation.
