Ken Harbaugh is running in the Democratic primary to take on Republican Rep. Bob Gibbs in Ohio’s 7th Congressional District. Harbaugh served as a pilot in the U.S. Navy where he led reconnaissance missions in the Middle East and off of North Korea. Following his service, he became an advocate for veterans, and he most recently served as President of Team Rubicon Global, a disaster-response organization that has helped train more than 50,000 military veterans to deploy to natural disasters in the U.S. and around the world.
On issues related to Israel and the Middle East peace process, Harbaugh supports a diplomacy-first approach. If elected to Congress, he will advocate for U.S. leadership by convening the parties to negotiate the terms of a two-state solution. In his view, such a solution is the best way to achieve peace between Israel and the Palestinians.
Regarding the Iran nuclear agreement, Harbaugh, as a former signals intelligence mission commander in the U.S. Navy, is under no illusions about the threat that an unchecked Iranian nuclear program would pose to the U.S. and its allies. Furthermore, America’s credibility around the world depends on our ability to stick to the agreements we have signed. We are not a nation that breaks its promises.
