Senator Martin Heinrich represented New Mexico’s 1st Congressional District in the House of Representatives from 2008 through 2012. The Senator won election to the US Senate in 2012, after beating former Rep. Heather Wilson by a surprisingly wide margin, and easily won reelection in 2018. Before his election to Congress, Heinrich served on the Albuquerque City Council and as a trustee of New Mexico’s Office of Natural Resources.
Senator Heinrich has been a consistent supporter of pro-Israel, pro-peace initiatives, fighting to preserve funding for both the Palestinian Authority and Israel. Throughout his time in the Senate, Heinrich has been a close ally of J Street.
