Rep. Paul Tonko has served as the member of Congress for New York’s 20th Congressional District since 2009. Prior to serving in Congress, Rep. Tonko served in the New York State Assembly from 1983 to 2007 and as President and CEO of the New York State Energy and Research Development Authority. In Congress, he serves on the Natural Resources, Education and Labor, and Energy and Commerce Committees.
Rep. Tonko has spoken out for continued aid to both Israel and the Palestinian Authority during his time on Capitol Hill. He has been a frequent supporter of J Street’s legislative priorities, and he was an early cosponsor of House Resolution 326, which reaffirms Congress’s commitment to two-state solution and opposes settlement expansion and annexation.
