Formerly the three-term supervisor of Santa Barbara County, Salud Carbajal was elected to Congress as the Representative for California’s 24th district in 2016, succeeding JStreetPAC endorsee Lois Capps. He was re-elected in a landslide in 2018. Congressman Carbajal serves on the Armed Services, Transportation and Infrastructure, and Agriculture Committees.
In Congress, Rep. Carbajal has been a fierce advocate for an American role in encouraging Israeli-Palestinian final-status negotiations, supporting a two-state solution that respects the rights of both Israelis and Palestinians. Rep. Carbajal was also an early and avid advocate for the JCPOA agreement with Iran, believing strongly in a diplomacy-first approach to achieving American interests abroad. He was an early cosponsor of House Resolution 326, which reaffirms Congress’s commitment to two-state solution and opposes settlement expansion and annexation.
