Scott Wallace is the Democratic nominee for the newly redrawn 1st congressional district in Pennsylvania. Wallace is a lawyer who has worked for the Senate Judiciary Committee and the Senate Veteran Affairs Committee. He also has non-profit experience in criminal justice reform and has worked with the US Department of Justice. He runs a charitable foundation, the Wallace Global Fund, with his wife.
Wallace believes that Israel is a key ally in the Middle East and that the relationship between the United States and Israel is built on a shared commitment to democratic values. Wallace is committed to continued US foreign aid to Israel in order to maintain its qualitative military edge in the region, and he also supports aid to the Palestinian Authority. In terms of the peace process, Wallace believes that the two-state solution is the only viable path toward long-term peace and security in the region. He understands that the United States has a role to play in the facilitation of the peace talks, but that ultimately, a decision must be agreed upon by the Israelis and Palestinians. Wallace also found the Trump administration’s unilateral decision to move the US embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem to be problematic and a complication for the peace process.
Wallace saw the JCPOA as the best possible opportunity to slow down the threat of Iran obtaining a nuclear weapon. In his view, the Trump administration’s decision to withdraw from the deal was dangerous, and he supports a diplomatic approach to curbing Iran’s nuclear ambitions.
