Representative Suzanne Bonamici won a 2012 special election to represent Oregon’s 1st Congressional District, which encompasses parts of Portland and surrounding counties that include a thriving technology sector, farmland, and coastline. Rep. Bonamici began her career as a consumer rights attorney and previously served in the Oregon Senate and House of Representatives. In Congress, she has become a leading advocate for a strong public education system and efforts to address climate change and the health of our oceans. She serves on the Education and Labor and Science, Space, and Technology Committees.
An active member of her local Jewish community, Rep. Bonamici has traveled to Israel with her family, and is an outspoken supporter of a two-state solution. She was an early cosponsor of House Resolution 326, which reaffirms Congress’s commitment to two-state solution and opposes settlement expansion and annexation.
